Our second day in Cleveland, we rode our bikes to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We like Rock and Roll, so we were excited to go. It took us about half an hour or so to get there, but we were meandering along the way. The outside of the structure is impressive, situated right on the water (the lake is behind the Hall in the photo below).
The Hall is expensive ($15.00 per person) for what you get to see. While the structure itself is cool, we thought that the contents were a bit limited. For example, there were almost no Grateful Dead items, and very few Beatles items. Also, the top three floors were devoted to the history of hip-hop, which is not really our bag, although we did enjoy the Fat Boys costume which featured a fork and knife belt buckle.
Also, you cannot take photos inside except for the main floor (there are six altogether), so we got these shots of cars from a U2 tour. Note the glass walls of the Hall.
Not that we disliked the Hall, mind you, for we did see some cool things like Janis Joplin's Porsche and her eyeglasses, a costume exhibit (TLC and Mick Jagger are really tiny people), and a giant pop, fries, and flying hot dog from Phish (if you look really close below the glittery U2 car, you can see the hot dog behind the escalator).
After we left the Hall, we rode our bikes downtown to get a hot dog from a corner vendor (having been inspired and hungered by the Phish prop), and along the way, we encountered this giant structure. We understand there is one in New York with "Love" on it.
We were also blown away by this Memorial fountain. The close up on the right shows one of the four smaller statues at the bottom, representing each of the four elements (here, water). How many cities boast a fountain this beautiful?
Saturday night was our trip to the first of our planned dining destinations: Kosta's. Continue on to read my review.
